On October 18, the 2026“Vibrant China Research Tour” Hainan-themed Interview Event kicked off in Haikou. More than 100 journalists will split into two groups — one heading east, one west — to report on the ground across the free trade port, documenting how Hainan has changed since the launch of island-wide special customs operations, and showcasing the island's openness and vitality.

The tour has already made stops in Fujian, Guangdong, Shanghai and Guangxi. In Hainan, the focus is on what those operations have delivered since taking effect — and on Hainan's exploration of Chinese modernization.
