Hainan has launched its 2026 campaign to collect and showcase high-quality online content, inviting writers, photographers, videographers and other creators to share works that tell compelling stories and promote positive values.
Organized by the Office of the Office of the Cyberspace Affairs Committee of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee, the campaign aims to identify and showcase influential online works that are meaningful, engaging and socially relevant. Selected works will also have priority for recommendation to a national campaign featuring high-quality online content from across China.
The campaign is open to the public and covers five categories:
Online writing — including commentaries, news reports, documentary-style stories and other text-based works that promote positive values and generate broad social impact.
Photography and visual content — including photographs, static creative works and animated visuals with distinctive themes, strong visual appeal and broad reach, particularly those reflecting contemporary life and ideas.
Audio and video — including audio programs, videos, animation and livestreams that feature creative storytelling, engaging presentation and high-quality production.
Special features and online columns — multimedia projects that explore an event, individual or theme from multiple perspectives. Online columns must have been published or broadcast at least 24 times within one year.
Online themed activities — campaigns and interactive activities that make use of digital platforms to encourage participation, engagement and constructive public discussion.
New technologies encouraged
This year's campaign places a particular emphasis on digital innovation. Entries must have been first published online or released online simultaneously with their initial publication, and should demonstrate the distinctive characteristics of digital media.
Creators are encouraged to make use of artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies, as well as immersive, interactive and experiential formats. Content designed specifically for mobile screens is also welcomed.
Who can apply?
Eligible works must be original online content published between December 2025 and November 2026.
Applicants must accurately identify the authors or principal creators and ensure that the names and order of attribution match those of the original publication. Works published without individual bylines, or involving more than six authors or principal creators, should be submitted under a collective name.
All entries must be original and free of copyright or attribution disputes. Works found to involve plagiarism, fabrication or falsification of application materials will be disqualified, with applicants responsible for any resulting legal consequences.
Applications can be submitted through institutional recommendation or individual self-nomination. Applicants should complete the official recommendation form and submit it, together with supporting materials such as a cover image, by November 20, 2026.
Applications should be sent to nanguozk@163.com. For inquiries, please call +86 0898-66813823.
Selected works will be announced publicly, with certificates presented to the organizations or individuals behind them. The works will also be featured on relevant websites and given priority for recommendation to the national online content showcase.
