Construction began on September 21 on JD.com's Hainan headquarters office project, located in Haikou's Jiangdong New Area. Once completed, the development will serve as the Hainan regional hub for JD.com, one of China's leading digital economy and supply chain logistics companies. The new headquarters will house the company's province-wide supply chain services, logistics, technology, retail, healthcare, and international business operations.

The JD.com project represents an investment of 520 million yuan and will have a total floor area of approximately 63,800 square meters. The building will feature 13 above-ground floors and two basement levels, with completion scheduled for September 2029.

Like several other buildings in the Jiangdong New Area, the new headquarters will have a predominantly glass curtain-wall facade, creating a sense of openness and transparency. The design fits in with Haikou's tropical coastal climate while giving the building a futuristic, high-tech appearance.
The new headquarters is also expected to generate business synergies with JD.com's smart industrial park, which is located in the Jiangdong New Area's airport economic zone. The park, which opened in 2023, was built to the standards of a "JD Asia No. 1 Smart Industrial Park", and boasts a total floor area of approximately 108,000 square meters.
The new JD.com headquarters will further strengthen the Jiangdong New Area's growing cluster of corporate headquarters. As one of the key industrial parks of the Hainan Free Trade Port, the Jiangdong New Area has offered preferential policies to facilitate cross-border capital flows and the orderly flow of data to companies in need since the Hainan FTP island-wide special customs operations began in December, 2025.
To date, construction has begun on 36 headquarters-related and supporting projects in Jiangdong New Area's headquarters district, eighteen of which have been completed and begun operation. The area also hosts the regional headquarters of several of China’s central enterprises and leading local financial institutions, including the Bank of Hainan, Sinopec, China Southern Power Grid, and more.
