On June 16, five business representatives from the energy, healthcare, digital culture, food processing, and tropical agriculture sectors shared their experiences at a case-sharing event in Haikou. They discussed how Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP) policies have supported the expansion of their international business activities since the launch of special customs operations.
In the energy sector, China National Petroleum Hainan Sales Co., Ltd. has accelerated its transition to green energy by integrating its traditional oil and gas operations with new energy sources and retail services. So far, the company has established 85 photovoltaic power stations and 115 charging stations throughout Hainan. Its charging network makes up 4% of the province's total. In 2025, the company's charging volume surpassed 100 million kilowatt-hours, supporting over 570,000 vehicle owners and exemplifying the FTP's transformation in the energy sector.
In healthcare, Hong Kong-invested Panboron BNCT (Hainan) Hospital has benefited from the policy advantages of the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone. Thanks to institutional innovations under the FTP framework, the hospital's imported advanced medical equipment and vital specialty medicines qualify for zero-tariff treatment and can be delivered through streamlined, one-stop customs clearance services for cross-border medical supplies. These policy benefits are attracting more foreign-invested healthcare facilities to Hainan and aiding the rapid growth of the island as a globally recognized medical tourism hub.
In the digital culture sector, Yuanyou Information Technology Co., Ltd., based in Hainan and operating for a decade, has built a diverse global product portfolio and launched multiple successful games. According to Executive President Wang Juan, the Hainan FTP delivers more than just isolated policy incentives. It offers a broad support system that includes research and development subsidies, marketing assistance, growth incentives, and tax benefits, helping companies expand internationally.
In food processing, Wenye (Hainan) Food Co., Ltd. has successfully leveraged a landmark FTP policy that allows goods with at least 30% value added after processing in Hainan to enter the domestic market tariff-free. The company has developed a cross-border business model that integrates global sourcing, processing in Hainan, domestic distribution, and global sales. This strategy has significantly reduced supply chain costs and serves as a practical example of how foreign trade enterprises can leverage FTP policies to serve both domestic and international markets.
In the tropical agriculture sector, Xinglong Coffee Culture Park, operated by the multinational Charoen Pokphand Group, has used the FTP's investment facilitation measures and rules of origin policies to accelerate the international development of local coffee brands and strengthen ties with global markets.
Hainan is signaling its commitment to global investors by offering targeted policy incentives and comprehensive business support. This positions the province as an international platform for sharing development opportunities and fostering mutually beneficial cooperation.
