For the combined National Day and Mid-Autumn eight-day "super holiday" period, Haikou has launched a four-day, three-night in-depth tour itinerary that takes in the cultural landmarks, landscapes, theme parks, and fishing villages of Hainan's provincial capital.

Day 1: Qilou Historical and Cultural Quarter — Hai Rui Cultural Park — Cloudscape Library/Haikou FUNBAY — Evergreen Park/Haikou Bay Performing Arts Center — Check into a hotel

The first day's itinerary mainly focuses on Haikou's cultural landmarks. Visitors can stroll through the Qilou Historical and Cultural Quarter, experience the city's Southeast Asian influences, and savor local delicacies, such as Laobacha (Old Dad's Tea), Qingbuliang (a dessert soup with a coconut milk/water base and various toppings), and Latangfan (a peppery soup served with rice and vegetables). If you're visiting between October 5 and 6, you can also catch the 2025 Brocade Colors—Intangible Cultural Heritage Fashion Show and immerse yourself in the fashionable revitalization of Hainan's intangible cultural heritage.

Afterward, head to Hai Rui Cultural Park to quietly appreciate the integrity and spiritual depth of a righteous official from a bygone era, adding cultural depth to your journey.

In the afternoon, visit Cloudscape (Wormhole) Library for photos or to sit quietly and wait for a spectacular sunset. Alternatively, head to Haikou FUNBAY. It is here, from October 1 to 5, where the 2025 Haikou Cup Sailing Regatta will be held, which is bound to bring some maritime excitement to an afternoon.

In the evening, you can enjoy the sounds of the 2025 Summer Lawn Concert Music Festival at nearby Evergreen Park, which will host a musical feast for all tastes over eight successive nights.

Day 2: Haikou Volcanic Cluster Global Geopark / Hainan Tropical Wildlife Park and Botanical Garden — Sanqing Village — Haikou National Sailing Base Public Marina — Rongshanliao Village — Check into a B&B

The next day, focus on nature and rural experiences. In the morning, you can choose to explore the rugged greenery of the Haikou Volcanic Cluster Global Geopark or visit the flora and fauna at the Hainan Tropical Wildlife Park and Botanical Garden.

In the afternoon, take some time to wander through the ancient Sanqing Village, built on northern Hainan's volcanic plateau from volcanic rocks. From October 3 to 4, the village will host activities such as a paper-cutting art exhibition, an ancient village fashion show, a treasure hunt, live music, and a creative market. Afterwards, head back into the city to Haikou National Sailing Base Public Marina to experience water-based activities like sea fishing, sailing, and more.

In the evening, make your way to Rongshanliao Village Beach Fish Market, where you can select fresh seafood and experience the local fishing village culture. As for accommodation, book yourself into one of the village's charming guesthouses.

Day 3: Changying Global 100 Fantasy Park / Movie Town Haikou — Hainan Museum / The "Shan Hai You Li" Cultural Creative Space at Hainan Library — Qiongtai Fudi and Qiongtai Academy — Haikou Gaoxingli Trendy Cultural Block — Check into a hotel

The third day's itinerary balances theme park entertainment with cultural exploration. In the morning, you can visit the Changying Global 100 Fantasy Park to view its upgraded Key of Light movie stunt show, or head to Movie Town Haikou to trade in your money for food stamps and experience a market from the middle of the last century, as well as watch a classic theme-park parade.

Later, head to Hainan Museum to visit two National Day special exhibitions: "Writing Home – Letters of Revolutionary Families in Hainan" and "Exhibition of Classic Works by Contemporary Russian Masters." At the "Shan Hai You Li" Cultural Creative Space next door, you can read, take photos, and purchase cultural creative products. During the holidays, the space will also host events such as book signings and a Qilou-style building art exhibition.

After lunch, take your time exploring the ancient Qiongtai Fudi and Qiongtai Academy, and in the evening, check out Haikou Gaoxingli Trendy Cultural Block, where you can shop at the National Day Market and experience the delights of the Gaoxingli Good Life Festival.

Day 4: Dongzhai Port Mangrove Scenic Area — Beigang Island — Wenchang/Qionghai — Return to Haikou

In the morning, head along the Hainan Coastal Scenic Highway to Dongzhai Port Mangrove Scenic Area, where you can enjoy the lush environs of Haikou's very own "forest on the sea." During the holiday period, the scenic area will lay on activities such as intangible cultural heritage performances, as well as offering discounts on tickets, making the visit even more worthwhile.

Then, head to Beigang Island, and immerse yourself in fishing village culture with special National Day holiday activities: fishing village parades, beachcombing competitions, razor clam catching contests, and more. You can also explore Beigang Market, where you can pick up some handmade cultural creative products. At noon, we recommend dining on the island or at nearby farmhouse restaurants, all of which serve authentic, freshly caught seafood.

The afternoon is up to you. Heading down the coast, you could swing by Wenchang Space City to learn more about Hainan's thriving aerospace industry or drive even further south to Boao Town, where yet more maritime culture and seafood await at ancient Tanmen Fishing Harbor.

In the evening, make your way back to Haikou, filled with wonderful memories of your four-day excursion.
